Bun-less Brats

  1. Bun-less Brats came about when I was going to make Brats for dinner but forgot to buy buns.  This is one of our favorite meals.  Its fast and easy.  You will need:

A package of Brats (your favorite flavor)
A sweet onion
Peppers of various colors
A box of Rigatoni pasta
Parmesan Cheese (I have used the kind in the can before and it tastes good too.

To start, cut each brat length wise, remove the casing and cut into bite sized pieces.

Cut up your onion

and your peppers.

Start your pasta cooking.

While the pasta is cooking, start to cook your cut up brats in a large pan.

When the meat is cooked through, remove it from the pan.  I leave the fat from the meat as that helps season the dish.

Now start to cook your peppers and onions.

Once these have cooked to the desired consistency, add the brats back into the pan.

Drain your pasta and add it to the pan along with the meat and veggies.  Sprinkle liberally with your parmesan cheese and serve.

Just a note, tonight I added the whole box of pasta and that may have been a bit too much.  Maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a box would be better.
